it looks like March will be a gastronomic event on the Lower Richmond Road
We have had a truly phenomenal response to the Putney Pop-Up restaurants for Haiti. Rick Stein sold out immediately, then agreed to do another night, and that has sold out too. Phil Howard has also agreed to do a second night. He is sold out on the 4th, but is now doing a second night on March 18th.
Chez Bruce, our inaugural pop-up on March 2nd is also full. We are very pleased that Matthew Harris of Bibendum has just agreed to do a night on March 16th. So, good for him - and good for you for all your tremendous support and enthusiasm.
People have not only been booking tables, they have been offering to help!
You are now going to have to move quickly to secure any of the few remaining spaces in the other pop-ups on the following nights:
Monday 8th March - Atul Kochhar of The Michelin starred Benares Restaurant has agreed to do another night.
Tuesday 16th March - Matthew Harris of Bibendum will be hosting an evening
Wednesday 17th March - There are a few spaces left for Le Cafe Anglais
Thursday 18th March - There are a few tables for the second pop up from Phil Howard. Thursday 25th March - Helena Puolakka and the team from Skylon London will take over the restaurant. Expect fabulous cocktails.
Saturday 27th March - Jesse Dunford Wood will be testing his skills before opening his own restaurant in Notting Hill.
Monday 29th March - Patrick Williams and Toby Leigh are coming in from out of town to wow us in Putney.
Rebecca
Mascarenhas the owner of Putney's The Phoenix
told PutneySW15.com that,
"To those of you who have already booked, we look forward to seeing you on the night.
To those of you who are still waiting to hear, please be patient - we are dealing with the avalanche of requests as quickly as we can.
To those of you who are humming and hawing, prevaricate no more."
The plan is for a maximum of 15 dates throughout the month, with each chef and their staff working for free doing one service each. The pop-up restaurant will charge a flat price of £60 a head, and Mascarenhas is also planning to negotiate a deal to buy good wines at cost, and add a £10 mark-up. For further details of dates and chefs logon to www.putneypopup.co.uk and register your details - they will get back to you with more details.
