the first time artifical grass is allowed and the garden wins a Silver-Gilt medal
Easigrass™ Gardens Ltd are delighted that they have won Silver Gilt at this year's 2010 RHS Chelsea Flower Show, with 'The Urban Plantaholic's Garden Kitchen'.
Just missing gold by 1 point, their team comprising of top garden designer Tony Smith of Hortus infinitus together with Poet John Armstrong and Master Craftsman Karen & Michael Murphy of Ballina Co Mayo , made the whole experience truly a magical one.
The entry which took months of planning and coordinating paid off in the end when thousands of visitors from all over the world were allowed to see how wonderful their top of the range grass 'Mayfair' looked next to real grass.
Managing Director Mr Anthony Gallagher said:
"
Customers could hardly tell the difference between Easigrass™ and the real grass, however the advantages of no feeding no mowing soon became apparent.
We are all grateful to the RHS for giving us the truly wonderful opportunity."
The Easigrass™ Garden was the garden of a plantaholic bachelor, an eccentric who lives in the city and has a high profile, stressful job. Away from work, he wants to escape into his own world with only his beloved plants for company. He does not cook at home and has allowed his latest passion, orchids, to take over the kitchen.
Not being a sun worshipper and craving privacy, he has replaced the conservatory with a grotto, the walls and ceiling of which are finished in a high quality Easigrass™. The grotto has a seat sculpted into the back wall from where he can enjoy his prized collection of ferns.
The poem “Orchid”, was performed at the show by its creator, John Armstrong, captures the spirit of the garden’s owner and his total obsession for flowers and their creation, bringing the magic of poetry to the textures and colours of the Chelsea Flower Show.
If you didn't get to Chelsea Flower Show you can find Easigrass at Selfridges & Habitat on the Kings Road.
