Barnes hops forward with the arrival of a new microbrewery, Jeffersons
Local brothers are today putting Barnes firmly on the brewing map with the launch of Jeffersons, a new microbrewery located in the heart of Barnes. Crafting a range of small batch session ales that explore the wonderful world of hops, Jeffersons beers are designed to help the beer drinker enjoy and uncover hops from around the world.
The microbrewery will be running the beer tent at Barnes Fair on the 8th July, offering beer lovers cold draught beer and 6 bottle gift boxes from 10am to 6pm.
Set up by local brothers George and Freddie Jefferies, Jeffersons is the first brewery to hit Barnes and the latest in a stream of successful microbreweries that are quenching the thirst of an increasingly adventurous beer drinker.
Explaining their journey so far, Freddie Jefferies commented: “With an almost unquenchable appetite for good beer, we’ve spent the last 5 years brewing with hops from all over the world. What started with experimentation and home brewing quickly escalated to the point where we had acquired the skills and knowledge to go commercial. We’re extremely lucky to be able to do that in the town we’ve grown up in and can’t wait for the local community to join the hop exploring adventure.”
Around the world in 80 hops
Born out of an obsessive love of good beer and a vision to help people discover new hops and flavours from around the world, Jeffersons beers take the drinker on a hop exploring journey. Each of their beers is based on a different geographical location, be that a country or continent, and showcases hops from that specific region.
George Jefferies explains: “Our brewery may be located in Barnes, but we’ve taken a totally global approach. We believe the beer drinker should not only get to enjoy the beer their drinking but also to learn a bit about what’s in it and what each hop brings to the table. By designing a range of beers that put hops from all over the world on a pedestal, our promise is to take beer lovers on a journey to discover an array of new hops and flavours.”
Jeffersons will be launching with a range of three core beers, with a fourth seasonal Autumnal beer coming in September+. The range of beers combine some of the highest quality ingredi
ents with careful craftsmanship and are all brewed from their premises in the heart of Barnes.
• Thirsty Eagle – American Blonde Ale (4.2%)
• Big Ocean – Transfacific IPA (6.0%)
• Hikari Ichi – Japanese Very Pale Ale (3.8%)
Jeffersons will be showcasing their beers at the Barnes Food Festival on 17th September. Go down to SW13 and see them at Barnes Pond, and follow their journey on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
