Free kerbside collection and drop off points
Ealing Council is once again asking residents to do the right thing and recycle their real Christmas trees. For the fifth year in a row, a free kerbside collection service will operate throughout January, as well as a number of drop-off points across the borough.
Residents that use a green box to recycle can leave their old Christmas trees at the front of their property on their collection day between 4 – 29 January. Residents can go to www.ealing.gov.uk/recycling to find their collection day over the Christmas period.
All decorations should be removed and trees must be smaller than 20cm in diameter. Those higher than 6ft should be cut in two first.
Residents can also take real Christmas trees of all shapes and sizes to a number of drop-off points across the borough during the months of January and February. Once again, trees must have all decorations removed.

In addition, the council’s re-use and recycling centres accept garden waste, including Christmas trees, for recycling. These centres are located at Stirling Road, Acton and Greenford Road, Greenford.
Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for transport, environment and leisure, said: “Christmas is a time for giving, so give some thought to how you can recycle more at this time of year. We see an extra 192 tonnes of waste sent to landfill around Christmas time and we all need this figure to come down. That's why we are making it as easy as possible to recycle your real Christmas tree by continuing our doorstep collection service.
“Help is also at hand for people who don’t have the green box recycling service or for those who miss their collection day; they can take their trees to one of our 19 drop-off points across the borough. All of the trees that we collect are turned into nutrient-rich compost so it’s a great way to get your new year off to a green start.”
