What Does The Future Hold For Acton Baths?

Public meeting to discuss plans to rebuild swimming pool on alternative site

A public meeting will be held on Friday, 10 July between 7.00pm and 9.00pm in the large Dance Studio at Acton Baths, Salisbury Street, Acton to discuss the future of the baths.

In their regeneration plans for Acton Town Centre, Ealing Council are proposing to move the baths to an alernative site and potentially reduce the pool's size.

Friends of Acton Baths have invited Jonathan Kirby, Assistant Director of Major Projects and Development in the Environment and Customer Services department of Ealing Council, to the meeting to discuss the options for the future of swimming in central Acton.

The Friends also hoped that an independent expert on pool design and refurbishment, as well as various Councillors and a representative of the Baths management, will also be present.

The Friends of Acton Baths (FAB) was set up in 1985 as a campaigning group to save Acton Baths from decay and closure. They were successful, and in 1990 Ealing Council spent two-and-a-half million pounds restoring the Baths. That restoration was due to last 20 years, a period that elapses next year.
