Donate your old coat and help most vulnerable
Bought a new winter coat this year? Wondering what to do with last season's? Instead of a trip to the charity shop, why not drop it off at one of five London Tube stations this week.
Between 7:00 and 11:00, Underground staff at King's Cross, Paddington, Charing Cross, London Bridge, Victoria and Waterloo will be supporting 'Wrap up London' - the Capital's first city-wide coat donation event.
Sponsored by charity Hands on London, it aims to help the most vulnerable people in the Capital during the winter months.
CEO of Hands on London, Elizabeth Grier, explained: 'Around 90 per cent of homeless adults need a new, warm coat each winter because they have no place to keep one during the summer.
'But it's not just homeless people who need our help, thousands of Londoners, especially older people, are being forced to choose between buying a winter coat and putting food on the table.
'We would like as many people as possible to donate as they travel through on their way to work.'
All the garments will be re-distributed to women and children's shelters, and homeless and older people's organisations throughout London.
A drop-off point will be in place at each station - until Friday (8th) just ask staff for details.
