Following the recent election of five Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators and the appointment by the Home Office of a new Conservator, the full board (consisting of five elected and three appointed Conservators) held its inaugural board meeting on 12th April 2018.

Diane Neil Mills, a Wimbledon resident, was elected as Chairman. The other Conservators, who are also trustees of the charity, are Shirley Gillbe, David Hince, Peter Hirsch, Sarah-Jane Holden, Michael Rappolt, Dr Ros Taylor and Nigel Ware.



Diane Neil Mills, the elected Chairman (pictured above), said after the meeting: “I am delighted and honoured to have been elected Chairman of the Wimbledon and Putney Commons Conservators. I believe that we have a unique opportunity to make a significant contribution to the long-term future of the Commons, ensuring the highest possible standards are achieved in everything we do. Integrity must be at the heart of every decision, grounded on the founding principles of the 1871 Act, to preserve, enhance and protect the open space for the purposes of exercise, recreation and other purposes. I look forward to working with my fellow Conservators in a transparent way to ensure that the beautiful but fragile environment of the Commons is preserved and enhanced for the present and future generations.”
