Find new routes to work
The council’s Work Match team is offering a series of ten week programmes to help Wandsworth residents return to work.
New Routes to Work is a tailored programme of support to give jobseekers who have been out of work for a while, or who lack confidence, the skills they need to successfully apply for a job.
The course will develop confidence, motivation, self-belief and wellbeing skills, as well as polish up your communication, social and team working abilities.
You will be helped to set short, medium and long-term plans goals and plans, and will be taught how to tackle CV writing, application forms, job searches and interviews. Afterwards you will receive support in finding the right job.
Business spokesman Cllr Kim Caddy said: “If you’ve been out of the workplace for a while, it can knock your confidence. Our specialist Work Match team are waiting to help support you every step of the way. Jobseekers will be given the skills they need to apply for the right job, send in a polished CV and be confident and prepared at interviews.
“This is just one of the ways the council’s Work Match service gives Wandsworth’s residents the edge in the local jobs market. They also ensure that our residents are first in the queue when it comes to making the most of the jobs and opportunities created by the transformation of Nine Elms and other regeneration projects around the borough.”
The courses will be run throughout the year at various venues. The next in Roehampton starts at the end of June, so contact the team as soon as possible if you want to go along.
