A new fundraising campaign has been launched to support the development of an Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre (ADC) at West Middlesex University Hospital. Led by CW+, the official charity of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the initiative aims to raise £1.5 million to enhance the NHS-funded facility with advanced equipment and improved patient spaces.

The campaign, titled Hospital Next Door, centres on a “buy a brick” initiative that invites individuals and businesses to contribute by adding their name and message to a virtual wall hosted on the charity’s website. Donations will help fund items such as a cardiac MRI scanner and contribute to the creation of more welcoming and accessible treatment environments.

Scheduled to open in autumn 2026, the ADC is expected to deliver a significant boost to diagnostic capacity in West London. The facility will enable nearly 85,000 diagnostic and treatment procedures annually—an increase of 57%—and offer faster, more accurate results for conditions including cancer and heart disease. It will also provide enhanced imaging services, particularly important in Hounslow, which has the highest heart failure admission rates in England.

In addition to clinical improvements, the centre will include an education hub designed to support staff development and recruitment.

Sarah McCullough, Director of Fundraising at CW+, described the campaign as a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” to improve local healthcare. Lesley Watts, Chief Executive of the Trust, said the new facility aligns with broader efforts to deliver high-quality care closer to home.

The campaign is part of CW+’s ongoing work to support innovation and patient experience across the Trust’s hospitals. More information, including how to participate in the “buy a brick” initiative, is available at www.cwplus.org.uk/appeals/hospital-next-door.
