The latest update on pothole and pavement repairs
More than 1,000 potholes have been fixed since Wandsworth’s repair teams took to the streets last month to begin a huge road improvement project.
The council's Action on Potholes campaign has so far seen work carried out in Furzedown, Southfields, St Mary's Park, Wandsworth Common and West Putney.
In total, 1,102 potholes have been repaired since the start of May.
Three repair teams have been tackling problem potholes in three wards this month - fixing 274 in West Putney, 162 in Wandsworth Common and 95 in St Mary's Park.
This is in addition to 364 pothole repairs that have been carried out in Furzedown and 207 in Southfields.
Next month will see the pothole repair teams move into three new wards - Queenstown, Northcote and Shaftesbury - to begin improvement work.
Meanwhile, three more crews have been tasked with fixing problems with pavements. They have been in Earlsfield, Nightingale and West Hill wards this month - after Bedford and Latchmere saw pavement improvement work carried out in May.
In July they will start tackling pavements in Thamesfield, Balham and Fairfield.
Every street in the borough will be inspected over the coming months as the council continues its major pothole and pavement repair project.
As part of the repair campaign, many roads will be completely resurfaced and some roads will have their pavements completely re-laid.
Leaflets will be sent to homes across the borough to let people know when the repair crews will be working in their neighbourhoods.
Wandsworth is responsible for 1,500 roads stretching over 360km with 746km of pavements, many of which were constructed more than 100 years ago.
The country has seen some of the worst winters over the past four years causing huge damage by weakening the road surface and creating many more potholes.
