Wandsworth Artists' Open House may have just the venue for you
A new scheme will help artists who would love the chance to showcase their work but don’t have a suitable venue.
Wandsworth Artists’ Open House takes place every October. Artists open up their homes, studios or other venues to show and sell work directly to the public.
Last year approximately 10,000 people visited the borough to discover the hidden talents of its arts scene and to browse and buy art in a relaxed setting.
This year, artists who would like to take part but can’t due to a lack of suitable venue can use a new facility where they can upload images and details about their work to the Wandsworth Artists’ Open House website. Artists looking to share their venue can then view this information and make contact accordingly. Emerging artists in particular are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to have an affordable exhibition space and to showcase their work to a new audience. They also enjoy exposure to a new audience via the website for the duration of the project. In turn, artists who share their venue will benefit from a bigger visitor reach, a refreshed offer, and help on the day.
The annual event is a key part of Wandsworth Council’s arts support programme and is organised by the authority’s contractor Enable Leisure and Culture, in partnership with an Artists Steering Group.
The deadline to register to take part in this year’s event is June 29. If you are an artist who would like to take part in this year’s Wandsworth Artists’ Open House, register online now.
