Council encourages residents to compost as much as possible
Garden waste in Wandsworth borough will be collected on your usual collection day from Monday 18 May. To help the waste crews with collections, the Council request that you ensure your garden waste is put out at your property boundary and is clearly visible.
The Council is reminding residents that there is currently increased pressure on our refuse collection services, so please bear in mind the following:
Try to minimise the amount of rubbish, recycling and food waste you produce.
Councillor Sutters Cabinet Member for Community Services and Open Spaces said: “I am delighted that we can restart our garden waste collection – it’s great news for Wandsworth residents. I fully appreciate that asking you to keep your garden waste at home has been a big ask, so thank you so much for your support over the past few weeks.
“A huge thanks also goes to our waste crews, for keeping Wandsworth running during the coronavirus outbreak. Their dedication and commitment meant that we could continue offering a weekly waste and recycling service.
“I’d also like to thank everyone who wrote, drew or painted a message of support for the Serco bin men and women; it really made a difference and kept them going.”
