Council Expands WAND Card Scheme
Launching the WAND+ card extending the help for families with disabled children

The newWAND+ card means that young people up to the age of 24 with special educational needs and disabilities can also get help. The upper age limit of the standard Wand Card is 19.WAND cards help disabled children and young people get concessions and extra support at venues around the borough.
The new card will be promoted around the borough by the award-winning WAND Parent Champion team of volunteers. It was launched by the Mayor of Wandsworth in April at Wandsworth’s first Autism Fayre, organised by A2ndVoice and supported by the council.
Sometimes disabilities are not obvious, so the WAND+ card will be a handy way to show that a young person or child might need some extra help or understanding, whilst out and about, without having to explain their disabilities every time.
Children’s Services spokesman Cllr Kathy Tracey said:
“The council’s WAND Card has already helped so many families make the most of living in Wandsworth, and I’m delighted the scheme has been extended to help other young people.”
You may be eligible for a WAND+ card if you are:
· Aged 18-24 · Have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) · Have complex health needs that have a big effect on your daily life and ability to get out and about. · You live in Wandsworth or are a Wandsworth ‘looked after’ young person with SEND. |
