Deadline looms for postal or proxy votes

if this is the way you wish to vote for the General Election

With a general election looming, people who wish to vote by post or by proxy are being advised to act now.

With polling day called for Thursday, May 5, the last date for amendments to any existing postal or proxy votes is 5pm on Tuesday, April 19.

The deadline for receiving new applications is 5pm on Tuesday, April 26.

People who are entitled to vote in the general election have an automatic right to a postal vote and can request a proxy vote - allowing someone else to vote on their behalf - if they have a valid reason.

Every British, Commonwealth and Republic of Ireland citizen living in Great Britain can vote in all local, regional, national and European elections in the UK . All other European Union citizens living in this country can vote in European Parliamentary and local elections.
