Royal Trinity Hospice Celebrates Volunteers’ Week With Open Days

Open Days running from 6th -10th June in various locations

Royal Trinity Hospice is celebrating National Volunteers’ Week (1-12 June 2016) with a series of open days in the hospice and selected charity shops aimed at raising awareness of the volunteering opportunities in the charity.

Anyone interested in volunteering at Trinity is invited to pop into Royal Trinity Hospice in Clapham on 7th and 9th June (8am-7pm), or Trinity’s Waterloo, Putney High Street and Chelsea charity shops on 6th, 8th and 10th June respectively (10am-6pm).

Trinity has a dedicated team of over 450 volunteers who donate their time to volunteer in the hospice, in people’s owns homes and in Trinity’s 25 charity shops. However, each year the demand for Trinity’s services continues to grow along with the amount of money it needs to raise. That’s why Trinity is inviting members of the local community to volunteer – to help ensure Trinity can continue to be there for everyone who needs it.

Adam Marsh, Volunteering Services Manager, said:
“We are really excited to meet some new faces from our local community at the Open Days and to showcase the roles we have on offer at Trinity and in the shops. Some people think volunteering at a hospice might be depressing but the feedback we get from our volunteers is that it is enjoyable and immensely rewarding. Everyone has different motivations for volunteering but what unites our volunteers is that they all make a huge difference to people approaching the end of their lives.”

Trinity welcomes volunteers aged 18 or over in the hospice and 16 or over in the charity shops. Roles are varied, ranging from retail assistant, to gardener, to café volunteer to befriender. Trinity holds the Investing in Volunteering accreditation which recognises best practice in volunteer management.
