Schools Places

Hopefully all the children have the schools they wanted (or their parents wanted) and the school kits have been bought I tend to leave it until early September and face big queues and items out of stock! But for those who have not got their school preference, please take up the offer you have had and leave your name on the waiting list for the school you wanted but have not had an offer from they may have a vacancy during the coming year and you may of course find the school you are attending is in fact very good indeed. Please let me know your views on the changes in allocation of places this year and whether you think it has worked ok.

Preparing for Emergencies

I have been asked on numerous occasions why the Government sent out at the end of July the Preparing for Emergencies booklet and whether I know of some imminent terrorist threat to London and specifically to Wandsworth. The answer is NO. It seems to be an example of the Government being blamed whatever they do. As the adverts say, stick it behind the clock just in case. If you havent seen it, it is on the web at www.preparingforemergenices.gov.uk.

Incidentally I still have my Mickey Mouse Gas Mask which all my children have taken to school to show what happened in the old days. My mother to the day she died (two years ago sadly) was concerned that some day the Government would want it back!
