Shazia Mustafa and her husband Yusuf Chadun opened Third Door earlier this year
Wandsworth-based mum and entrepreneur Shazia Mustafa has been named as a finalist in two national business awards merely three months since she launched her ground-breaking business Third Door, which provides flexible office space with on-site childcare on a pay-as-you-go basis.
The self-funded company is the first of its kind in the UK and lets parents book a workspace – a Wi-Fi-enabled hot desk or meeting room - and a place in the on-site OFSTED registered nursery for their child, at times that suit their specific work requirements.
It was this innovative approach to helping change the way parents work, all while trying to look after two young children of her own, that led to Shazia being a finalist in the Best Start-Up category in The Mumpreneur Awards and short-listed as Business Parent of the Year in the Mum and Working Awards.
“So many parents want to find better work/life balance. I created Third Door to help other parents, just like me, who want to have a career and still spend time with their children. I’m delighted that all of our hard work in turning our dreams into a reality has been recognised with these awards,” says Shazia.
The winners of The Mumpreneur Awards will be announced at The Mumpreneur Conference on September 18th 2010, at the Heart of England Conference Centre in Warwickshire, while the winners of the Mum and Working Awards will announced on 4 November 2010 at The Hilton St Annes Manor, Bracknell.
