St Paul's Snatch Trio from Westminster

Local schools battle it out at Henley Royal Regatta

This year Westminster School had appeared to be invincible winning the Schools Head and the The Queen Mother Challenge Cup at the National Schools Regatta, so on Sunday they planned to claim the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup, but St Paul's School in Barnes had other intentions, winning the race for the first time since 1997, by beating Westminster by 1⅔ length.

Raced over five days, the regatta saw St Paul’s compete against top rowing schools from around the world. On the way to the final, they beat former winners Abingdon and old foes such as St Edward’s and Radley.

The St Paul’s crew (drawn from Years 12 and 13, Lower and Upper Eighth) included Alfred Jacquemot, Bertie Woodward-Fisher, Harry Gething, Freddie Davidson, Seb Benzecry, Arthur Doyle, David Ambler, Marco Hughes, Vlad Saigau.
