High Street 'Nuns' Go Down Under For Sports Relief

The infamous ‘Nuns’ from Ryman & Robert Dyas are dusting off their habits

For the whole weekend on the 8th and 9th March colleagues from all parts of the business, including lingerie high street chain Boux Avenue, will dress up as Nuns to pedal a mile. But this is no ordinary mile as the nuns will be getting on their bikes more than three metres underwater.

Taking place at the London School of Diving in Chiswick, the ‘Nuns’ will be cycling 100 miles on two specially adapted underwater bikes and hope to raise £25,000 for Sport Relief. Comic Relief spends the money raised to give extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged people in the UK and throughout the world a helping hand to turn their lives around.

The original ‘Nuns’ and organisers of the event, Ray Winter and Michael Brown, have been in the ‘habit’ of raising money for Comic Relief since 2009. With the help of their colleagues they have previously donned their Nuns' habits to pull a variety of vehicles including cars, trains, aeroplanes and even a tank!

Ray Winter said: “Nuns Down Under is an event like nothing we have ever attempted before. This year it’s a case of ‘all for Nun and Nun for all’ as we literally immerse ourselves in the event to raise even more money for Sport Relief.”

Ryman Stationery has been an Official Partner to Comic Relief for the past five years raising over £2 million for the charity. In addition to various staff fundraising activities, Ryman have also created Ryman Sport Relief Pens in red, green and blue - each representing the three big Sport Relief events run, cycle and swim.

This year also sees Robert Dyas join Ryman as an Official Partner to Comic Relief for the first time and continuing the sporting theme, they’ve produced two exclusive Sport Relief Football Torch Key Rings in red and black.

All the pens and key rings cost just £1 each, with 100 percent of proceeds going to Sport Relief.
