For the fifth year in a row Southfields has been transformed into a Window Wanderland.

This weekend (27/28 February) more than 320 windows were decorated and lit up to create a magical atmosphere in the area.

The annual effort to transform the area’s streets into a magical outdoor gallery for all to see is something that everyone in the community was able to take part in.

Even if you didn’t feel creative, you could take part by simply opening your curtains and shutters to help illuminate the area. Many residents opted for a display of fairy lights.

Organiser Samantha Traynor said, "This year a record 329 people signed up and transformed their windows into breathtaking displays turning the streets of Southfields into a magical outdoor gallery for all to enjoy. Despite lockdown and ongoing restrictions we were all still able enjoy the event with social distancing being adhered to. We had monkeys in a bubble bath (with a bubble machine!), Star Wars, The ocean, Batman, E.T., Inspirational quotes, Mary Poppins, pacman, beaches rockets, Gorillas, penguins, dinosaurs & badgers. An amazing Yayoi Kusama display, Harry Potter, NHS tributes and The Beatles popped up on Brookwood!

"Riversdale, St Cecilia’s and St Michael’s also lit up for the weekend. We even had a front garden disco on Sutherland Grove with disco ball plus a neon light installation made especially for the weekend. To quote lovely Isla aged 4 'it made me feel happy and excited and my favourite window was mine because I love Frozen!' I think we all know what an amazing community Southfields is but this weekend was a testament to that."

Putney MP Fleur Anderson visited the area and was very impressed with the displays.
