in school travel plan accreditation scheme
A number of local schools have received awards in Transport for London’s school travel plan accreditation scheme, which aims to ensure a long-term commitment to sustainable travel planning in schools.
Most of the borough’s schools already have a travel plan, which sets out how the school will improve the safety and quality of school journeys and cut the use of cars on the school run.
The accreditation scheme provides encouragement and inspiration for further development of travel plan work once the official document has been approved. It makes sure schools come good on the pledges outlined in their plan. It also enables continued funding and support for sustainable travel projects.
In Wandsworth, St Michael's C of E Primary School, Southfields has achieved Higher Standards, or silver, level. It was presented with its award at a special London-wide ceremony at the Natural History Museum.
