Parents who want to enrol their children at a Wandsworth primary school
in September are being urgently reminded that they have only two weeks
left to get their applications in.
Application forms for local primary schools must be admitted the town
hall by Friday, January 20.
To be eligible for a reception class place in September 2006, children
should have been born between September 1, 2001 and August 31, 2002.
A copy of the application form that parents must use is contained
in a brochure produced by the council's education department called
Choose a Wandsworth Primary School.
The brochure gives detailed advice and guidance on how to make an
application and contains simple and straightforward information about
all the borough's primary schools, including a map so that parents
can locate their nearest schools. It also contains details of after-school
care schemes and contact details to help find out more about other
early years services in Wandsworth.
Parents can apply for up to four schools on the application form,
listing them in order of preference. The application for each school
will be considered separately, using the school's published admissions
criteria to determine whether a place can be offered. No account will
be taken of whether parents have applied for other schools or the
order they have listed schools on their application form.
If a child can be offered more than one place, the council will ensure
that the one that is forwarded to parents is the highest ranked of
those schools able to make an offer. Nobody will receive more than
one offer.
Parents will receive a letter confirming their offer on Friday, March
17. The final date for parents to notify the town hall that they would
like to accept this place is Friday, March 31. Failure to do so could
result in the place being offered to another child.
Parents applying for nursery places in September 2006 should contact
individual schools direct.
