Gunnersbury tops table with big improvement at Chiswick
After a nervous summer, students across the borough are celebrating with family and friends after another record year for A-level results in the London Borough of Hounslow.
With results in from every Hounslow school except one, 97.4 per cent of the 1174 students received a pass grade in their A-levels, up from 96.9 per cent last year. Of these, 69.4 per cent received A-C grades, compared to 66.9 per cent in 2005.
Top performer in the Borough was Gunnersbury School which achieved a 100% pass rate and 84% of grades at A-C. It was ranked by the Times as one of the top 500 state schools in the country.
Chiswick Community School achieved the biggest improvement with the number of A-C grades rising by seven percentage points compared with 2005.
Congratulating the students on their success, Cllr Dr Robert Kinghorn, Executive Member for Education and Children, said, "This will be a memorable time in the lives of many young people in the borough, and I want to congratulate them on their achievement. After all the work that they have put in, and their anxious wait for their results, students should feel proud of their success."
He also warmly congratulated the teachers for their dedicated work.

In the independent sector Latymer Upper has achieved record A level results with a 100% pass rate. 12% of pupils at the school achieved places at Oxbridge.
