Deadline for submitting applications for secondary places is at the end of this week
Parents who want their children to start at a Wandsworth secondary school next September have until the end of this week to submit their application forms.
The deadline for submitting applications is Sunday, October 31. This deadline applies to parents of children who were born between September 1, 1999 and August 31, 2000.
Parents can apply to a maximum of six state schools in any part of London. Applications can be submitted online at www.wandsworth.gov.uk/admissions, by post or can be hand delivered to the town hall.
To help parents make up their minds and outline how they system works, the council has produced a detailed brochure called 'Choose a Wandsworth Secondary School'. It contains information about the borough's ten state-funded secondary schools and their admissions criteria. It also contains details on other schools within easy travelling distance.
Copies are available on the council's website at www.wandsworth.gov.uk/admissions, can be obtained by emailing admissions@wandsworth.gov.uk or by telephoning (020) 8871 7316. Staff on that number can also help with any other queries parents and carers may have.
All parents will be informed of the outcome of their applications at the beginning of March next year.
Executive member for children and young people Cllr Kathy Tracey said:
“Parents need to act right now if they haven’t already done so. There are only a few days left to submit applications and it is vital they don’t miss this important deadline.”
