Richmond Park Voted Top Picnic Site in London For The Third Year Running

Now you can help it win the final of the Warburtons Picnic Awards 2009

To celebrate Warburtons National Bread Week (4-10 May 2009) and the Great British pastime of picnics, the UK’s favourite family baker has been encouraging the public to pledge their support and vote for their favourite London picnic spot.

Hundreds of picnic-goers have cast their vote to help Richmond Park fight off stiff competition from other sites across the region, including Hyde Park and Greenwich Park, who have earned second and third place respectively in the regional heat.

Richmond Park has won a place in the national final to battle it out against nine other favourite picnic sites from around the UK to win the prestigious title of ‘Warburtons Best Picnic Spot 2009’.

To vote for Richmond Park in the final round, log onto www.welovebread.co.uk and register your vote before the closing date of 5th June 2009. Alternatively, send your vote to c/o Brand Development, Warburtons, Hereford House, Bolton, BL1 8JB.

Angie Waters, Warburtons spokesperson, comments: “Congratulations to Richmond Park and to all of our regional finalists. Richmond Park is the perfect spot for picnics. With free roaming deer, stunning views over London including a fantastic view of St Paul’s Cathedral through the trees at Sidmouth Wood and plenty of open space, it has what it takes to standout from the rest.”

For winning the regional heat, Richmond Park will be presented with a £500 cash bursary from the family baker.  If the London favourite goes on to be voted the nation’s top picnic site, not only will it receive a further £500 cash bursary, but it will also be presented with a Warburtons Picnic Award plaque to ensure future visitors will know that it has been voted as the UK’s favourite place to picnic.
