The Rotaract Club of Wandsworth is a group of 18-30 year olds who come together to help their local community, fundraise for charity, socialise and network, as well as developing their personal skills. With a new Rotaract year just started, they are look for like-minded people to join their club.

The club meets every second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 8pm at Café Ole in Clapham Junction. Despite being a Wandsworth-based club, members come from all over – with members from Reading, Canary Wharf and Hertfordshire, as well as Putney and Earlsfield. The club has a relaxed atmosphere and they often organize social events as a club, such as movie nights, picnics and trips to cocktail bars. They have also organized club trips to Athens, Budapest and Brighton.

The aim for this Rotaract year is to focus our efforts on helping in the local community and they are always looking for opportunities to help community groups or projects where they can. A spokesperson said: "If you know of a project that needs some volunteers willing to give their time, or if we can help you fundraise – do get in touch and let us know at swlondonrotaract@gmail.com".

In the past year, the club raised over £400 for Whizz Kidz, when members took to the streets of London for a 12 mile hike tracking the history of famous Rotarians in the city. They also took the ‘Come Dine on £2.89’ challenge, to see what it’s like to live on the bread line. Members like to take part in physical challenges and last year ran the Colour Run for Macmillan. This year, the club is taking part in Rough Runners, a tough and muddy obstacle course, and training is already underway.

The club spokesperson said: "If you’d like to know more or want to mean us, please do join us at one of our club meetings, or join us for our members interest event on Wednesday 4th October from 7.30pm at The Rocket pub, Putney Embankment. You can also see what we’re up to on our Facebook page https://en-gb.facebook.com/SWLondonRotaract/. We look forward to hearing from you!".
