Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability calls for ipads and tablets to enable virtual 'visits'
The patients in the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability are missing their visitors since the hospital stopped visits to the RHN for the time being. The team are doing everything they can to keep our patients and residents connected with the world.
Wherever possible, they are using technology to allow video messaging between patients and residents at the RHN and their families and friends with a number of iPads and Android tablets set up for this purpose.
A spokesperson for the RHN said: "However, we don’t have enough to keep everyone connected – and this is where you come in! If you have an old tablet, either iPad or Android, which still functions but you don’t mind donating it to the cause, we’d be incredibly grateful for it".
If you have a device you could donate - please back ack up any data, photos or other media you would like to keep – the RHN IT team will reformat the devices so you will lose whatever’s on there.
If you’re donating an iPad, you’ll need to remove your Apple ID from it - If it’s connected to your account, the RHN won’t be able to use it! Find out more on the Apple support website.
The hospital ask that you write your name and address on a piece of paper, so the RHN can keep track of your device, and either drop it off at the RHN’s main Reception between 9am and 5pm, or post it in a padded package to:
