who has been with the hospital since 1985
Maud Reilly from Putney celebrated her 90th birthday in style this week
at a surprise party organised by the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability.
Maud, who has been a volunteer at the hospital since 1985, was shocked
to find over 100 staff, volunteers, patients and family members, including
some of her grand children, at a surprise birthday party in the hospital
on 17th October.
Royal Hospital Chief Executive, Peter Franklyn gave a speech thanking
Maud for all her hard work over the past 20 years and presented her with
a painting of the hospital, flowers, a cheque and not one, but three birthday
cakes!
He says, Maud is known to all of us for her sense of humour and friendly
nature towards staff and patients, her presence in the hospital has been
invaluable and Im delighted that we are able to celebrate her 90th birthday
with her today.
Maud
says, I had no idea about the party, when I walked in I thought I had
interrupted an event until everyone started singing Happy Birthday!
I was so shocked but it was lovely to see all those faces. I love this
hospital more than anything, so to celebrate my birthday with everyone
who works and lives here was wonderful.
Maud started volunteering at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability in
1985 after a friend suggested she might enjoy it. She started by organising
jumble sales, before starting accompanying patients on away days and visits
and then more recently running the hospital snack bar.
