93% of entries achieve A* or A grade
Putney High School is today celebrating record-breaking GCSE results, with 61% of entries achieving A* grades and 93% securing A* or A grades. Almost one quarter of the year group achieved nine or more A* grades, with 11 students earning 10 A* grades.
In English Literature, 85% of results were at A* while in Maths IGCSE, almost three quarters of entries earned A* grades. Success at this highest level was replicated across a remarkable range of subjects – in History, for example, 85% of entries secured A*; in Geography, 81% were A* and Religious Studies, 78% A*.
In the Sciences, 93% of entries achieved A* or A grade, with two thirds of Biology entries earning A*. All students at Putney High School take GCSEs in all three separate sciences. Languages were equally impressive with 82% A* or A grades. In Chinese Mandarin, 80% of entries achieved A* grades.
Subjects enjoying 100% A* or A grades included Computing, Design Technology Resistant Materials; Design Technology Textiles; Music; PE and Religious Studies. 99% of all GCSE entries were at A* - B grade.
Headmistress Suzie Longstaff said: “These results are the best in Putney’s history and I am absolutely delighted for our record-breaking students. They have achieved at the very highest level across the full range of subjects from English, Maths and Sciences to Languages, Humanities and the Arts. The students have done so while contributing so much to school life in so many different ways.”
