Putney High School Celebrates GCSE Results

Double trouble to the power of three as twins collect their grades

Putney High School is today celebrating outstanding GCSE results, with 87% of entries achieving A* or A grades. Some 58 per cent of girls secured at least 10 A* or A grades, with 10 girls achieving 10 A* grades. 20 girls secured nine or more A* grades.

Putney was seeing double at the celebrations as no less than three sets of twins collected their results – Phoebe and Rosanna Codrington, Eleanor and Lydia Tsoukkas and Clara and Martha Finn. Clara was also one of nine Putney students to achieve all A* grades.

Olivia Mason Pearson sat her GCSE exams just two months after making her catwalk debut at Paris Fashion Week, modelling for Balenciaga under creative director Alexander Wang.

Olivia was signed by agency Select Model Management after being spotted in the street last October. She said:
“I had to be organised to ensure I covered all of my GCSE classwork and revision but it was great to be part of such a high profile show for an iconic brand.”

All 20 of the Chinese Mandarin entries achieved an A* grade – one week after the subject earned stunning Pre-U results, the equivalent of 100 per cent A* grades at A Level. Likewise, more than two thirds of English Literature results achieved A* grades (82 per cent of Putney’s English Lit A Level entries were A*). Other GCSE language results were equally impressive, with 90 per cent A* or A grades for French and German, and 87 per cent for Spanish.

In Science, 90 per cent of Biology and Chemistry entries were at A* or A grade while for Physics, the figure was 86 per cent. All Putney students sit GCSEs in all three separate sciences. In Maths, more than 90 per cent of entries achieved A* or A grade.

As Putney prepares to open its Performing Arts Centre, the school celebrated 100 per cent A* - A grades in Drama and Music, alongside DT Textiles and PE. In Geography, some 71 per cent of entries achieved A*.

Acting Headmistress Suzie Longstaff said:
“I am delighted for our students. These strong results reflect the sheer depth of ability and breadth of interest across the full range of subjects from Maths and Sciences to Languages, Humanities and the creative subjects.”
