Over 100 Years In Putney High School Staff Room

That's what one family has achieved!

A much-loved Senior School Art Technician at Putney High School GDST, Karen Howard, recently passed an impressive milestone, having spent over 30 years in the school’s Art Department.

Mrs Howard is not alone in her long service as her family have together accumulated over 100 years working at Putney between them.

Mrs Howard began working at the school in 1988 in what was originally a part time role as Food Technology and Textiles Technician, eventually to become Art and Textiles Technician, as she is now.

Working at Putney is something that appears to be in the blood, as Mrs Howard’s Aunt, Barbara Knights worked as a Senior Science Technician at the school for 34 years, her Mother, Monica Stockford was a Physics Technician at Putney for 17 years, and her Mother’s Sister-in-Law, Jane Languish, was a Lower School Technician for 30 years.

“We’ve racked up over 100 years between the four of us – it’s just become a way of life!” Mrs Howard told us.

Quite a record!
