New rules on postal voting -


New safeguards to combat voting fraud have now come into effect.

The new rules mean that people who wish to use postal votes at forthcoming elections must now provide details of their date of birth and a specimen copy of their signature when they apply.

People in the borough who have previously used postal votes have now been written to and asked to provide this information.

People who do not respond to these written requests for this information will have their postal voting facility cancelled.

Residents who don’t want to lose this service are being are being urged to contact the town hall’s electoral registration service without delay.
