Councillor King hopes Olympics will bing investment to Barn Elms

following announcement of London as host city for 2012

Cllr Stuart King - Wandsworth Borough Council

Stuart King the Deputy Leader of Labour in Wandsworth has reacted to London's successful Olympic bid describing it as a fantastic opportunity both for London and sport in Wandsworth borough.

He said, "The London Olympics will help support the growth and development of sports clubs in the borough including the Belgrave Harriers, Herne Hill Harriers, as well as rowing, gymnastics, martial arts, swimming, table tennis and many other clubs. It also presents an opportunity to develop and promote disability and Paralympic sport in relevant schools and at the Douglas Bader Centre. I also hope that our sports centre at Barn Elms will benefit from an investment in capital, as it would be an excellent location to host a team training site."

Councillor Stuart King added that it would be great news for Wandsworth's own young sports stars - some of whom he hopes and expects to represent Britain at the 2012 Olympics.
