Lucy Ivimy elected to represent ward on the Council
Lucy Ivimy has been elected as ward councillor for Ravenscourt Park. She will now represent the area on Hammersmith and Fulham Council.
There was a 33% turnout for the contest with 2,420 votes cast. The Conservative candidate beat Tony McMahon and Sam Le Rougetel, the Labour and Liberal Democrat candidates with 44% of the vote.
The by-election was held following the death of Councillor Caroline Donald. Cllr Donald died on the 16th June at Charing Cross Hospital, aged 47.
In the local election of 2002 the seat was closely contested with a recount necessary. A small number of votes split the top six candidates and Cllr. Donald won one seat on behalf of the Conservatives with the other two seats in the ward going to Labour.
The Conservatives are likely to looking closely at this ward with a view to gaining all three seats in the next Council election which is due next year.
