Saturday morning sessions held for Year 6 pupils at the school
Children from 36 local primary schools attended
72 Year 6 pupils from 36 primary schools across West London have graduated from Godolphin and Latymer’s Primary School Outreach Programme this month.
The Bridge students attended monthly Saturday morning lessons at the school in Hammersmith continuing their lessons remotely during the national lockdown.
The girls and boys had attended 40 hours of Saturday lessons and 30 hours of 11+ tutorial workshops during the school holidays. Their achievements were particularly commendable as this year’s programme began during the national lockdown at the beginning of the year, and initially sessions were delivered remotely using online learning platforms.
Head, Dr Frances Ramsey, paid tribute to the students saying, ‘They have been incredible in their hard work and commitment. They’ve thrown themselves into everything that’s been on offer, and as well as enjoying learning lots of different subjects, they have made great friendships and formed excellent relations with their teachers. At Godolphin and Latymer we have loved getting to know them and their families, who have become an important part of our community this year… My hope is that the Bridge programme has been a genuine bridge for them between primary school and whichever school it is that comes next for them, and that the way in which they have relished their learning this year will be a foundation for many successes at school in the years ahead.’
The Bridge programme aims to provide academic enrichment for bright primary school children, to provide information about means-tested bursaries, and to help widen access to independent schools. The majority of the students on the programme have now applied for 11+ places and bursaries at independent secondary schools in London – including Godolphin and Latymer.
