Hire up to four of the popular blue bikes on Saturday 16 or Sunday 17 August
Transport for London (TfL) is offering you the chance to try Barclays Cycle Hire for free this weekend as part of the scheme’s fourth birthday celebrations.
Using your bank card you will be able to hire up to four of the popular blue bikes on Saturday 16 or Sunday 17 August without paying the usual 24-hour access fee.
You will be able to hire the bikes as many times as you like over the 24 hour period, as long as each individual hire is kept under 30 minutes.
The Barclays Cycle Hire Zone expanded into north Wandsworth late last year following a council led campaign.
There are now around sixty docking stations across Battersea, Wandsworth Town and Putney which are being used thousands of times every day.
The council is lobbying for a further extension across Wandsworth so more local people can make use of this clean and convenient transport option.
Cllr Jonathan Cook, Wandsworth Council’s transport spokesman, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to give the scheme a try. Thousands of local people are now using Cycle Hire but there are plenty more of us who haven’t taken the plunge yet.
“They really are a wonderful way to get across Wandsworth and a great alternative to the car, bus, train or tube.”
