As Mayor of London prepares for 10-fold increase in cycling post-lockdown
The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has indicated that further work may be taking place on the cycleway between Putney and Pimlico.
This Wednesday (6 May) he unveiled his ‘London Streetspace’ programme which aims to transform London’s streets to accommodate a possible ten-fold increase in cycling and five-fold increase in walking when lockdown restrictions are eased.

His press release refers to an upgrade to be made to create 'sections of temporary segregation from ... Pimlico to Putney'. We have asked for further details but assume these will be on the existing CS8 route.
Local Assembly Member Léonie Cooper, pictured above, welcomed the news, she told this website: "I’m really pleased to see the Mayor releasing details, before we start to exit lockdown, of the thinking going on at City Hall to ensure Londoners remain safe as London starts to move forward again. This innovative approach to our streets will stop the transport system getting overloaded and unhealthy, ensure cycling and walking can be done safely - and maintain the air quality improvements we’ve enjoyed.”
There are currently 160km of signed Cycleways across London. Specific measures of London Streetspace will be announced by the Mayor of London in the coming weeks.
