And mount a campaign over TfL’s ban on bikes at Gunnersbury Station
Enraged cyclists have mounted a campaign against ‘threatening’ signs banning them from securing their bikes outside Gunnersbury station. A local resident raised concerns on the ChiswickW4.com forum after discovering the sign placed where she had been parking her bike at the station for over four decades.
Another told ChiswickW4.com, “No alternative has been offered to the many cyclists who use the station every day - not a rack in sight.
"Seems embarrassing to our Mayor's apparent cycle friendly policy and TFL's claim to offer the green alternative to Londoners.”
Cyclists have started a petition asking TfL to provide alternative sites at which bikes can be secured. “We're all in a spin about this,” said one campaigner. “Chiswick's cyclists are fuming.”
A spokesperson for TfL said that the bicycles had been banned for “health and safety reasons” because they caused an obstruction to the entrance of the station entrance.
Alternative sites, including a covered area for bikes, are currently being investigated by Hounslow Council.
