Opportunity for the youth of Wandsworth to get international class sports coaching
Young people in Wandsworth will be given the chance to receive international-class sports coaching during a two-day event on 20th & 21st October 2009.
Met-Track is an initiative led by the Met Police in partnership with various agencies in Wandsworth along with schools and the local authority.
It aims to encourage young people to engage in sport, presenting it as the healthy alternative in life for those who would not necessarily otherwise get the opportunity - potentially steering them away from anti-social behaviour and offending.
It will give young people aged between 11 and 16 years the chance to take part in sprinting, long jump, shot put, football and street dance with coaching from world-class athletes including coaches from Chelsea Football Club. The students will also be able to listen presentations given by The Prison Service, The Police Dog Section and The Territorial Support Group. For those who wish to continue to receive free coaching, the club will continue to meet each Monday, 4.30pm until 6pm at the Millennium Arena, Battersea Park.
