Wandsworth on Crime Watch this week


following series of muggings

Residents in Wandsworth and Battersea have been the targets of a series of muggings. In the run up to Christmas, the police know of at least 10 attacks in the area. The suspect is described as a slim, black male in his mid 20s, around 6'2 with a long face; often wearing a baseball cap. He has been approaching lone males and females, mostly in the late afternoon to early evening. He uses a variety of knives in his attacks.

Saturday 8th October 2005 Approx 4.30pm

A pregnant lady was attacked in Harbut Road as she was getting out of her car. Her 2 yr old son was in the back seat.

2. Monday 10th October 2005 Approx 3.30pm

2 days later, the suspect threatened a lady on Bramford Road while her 2 toddlers were in the back of her car.

3. Friday 14th October 2005 Approx 7.55pm

The victim apologised to the suspect, thinking he'd bumped into him, before being attacked and then chased away.An 18 carat gold Longines watch that was stolen. On the back are engraved the initials 'DS'.

4. Sunday 16th October 2005 Approx 3.10pm

This victim was attacked as she was getting into her car on Burns Road. Amongst the stolen possessions are Euros.

5. Friday 21st October 2005 Approx 6.05pm

The suspect was standing by his own witness appeal board and swearing just before launching an attack on Bramford Road. His victim was a lady making her way from Wandsworth Town BR station.

6. Thursday 27th October 2005 Approx 6.20pm


A female victim was attacked on Cabul Road.

7. Wednesday 9th November 2005 Approx 5.05pm


A man had just got out a taxi and was on Garrick Close when he was attacked.

8. Thursday 1st December 2005 Approx 2.30pm

A lady was attacked on Dighton Road. He failed to get anything and ran around the corner for an attempt on another victim whilst being chased by builders.

9. Thursday 1st December 2005 Approx 2.30pm


A lady was waiting in her car for school to finish on Alma Road when she was attacked.

10. Wednesday 14th December 2005; Just after 5pm


A young lady was walking back from Clapham Junction. She crossed into an alleyway about to enter Usk Road where the suspect was loitering under a lamp post. A male witness intervened and chased the suspect away.
