Crackdown on Burglary to Continue

Wandsworth police arrest 103 people this year on burglary charges

The borough’s senior police officers have met with their counterparts in Wandsworth Council to work even closer to tackle burglary. Police will be patrolling the borough from morning to night, with an increased presence in burglary hotspots.

They will be executing arrest warrants on burglary suspects and maximising all evidence gathering techniques to build a strong case against them.

The borough’s safer neighbourhoods teams will provide crucial support to the operation, with officers and community support officers patrolling their respective wards, looking for open windows, suspects known to police, and responding to any public concerns.

The borough’s police intelligence unit analyses the patterns of offences and draws up maps to highlight the burglary hotspots. By utilising fast-time intelligence police can act immediately to tackle emerging hotspots and to track down suspects.

Acting Borough Commander Guy Ferguson said, “We intend to transfer the fear of crime to criminals operating on this borough by relentlessly pursuing the prolific offenders behind burglary and street crime.  We are working with the council to make the borough a safer place and we will have high-visibility teams patrolling crime hotspots to make that happen.”
