Any member of the public, whether they are a victim or a witness, is invited to speak to police about issues surrounding hate crime. Hate crime offences include being hurt, called names or had you property damaged because of your race, faith, disability, sexuality, gender or age.
 
Chief Inspector Tim Harding says, “We want to get the message out to members of the community that we want people to report hate crime offences, no matter how minor they think they are. The police are committed to taking positive action wherever possible against the people who commit this type of crime.”
 
During Hate Crime Awareness Week there will be events held across the borough (see further details below). Southside Shopping Centre will host the launch on Saturday June 12th between 10.20 am and 1pm.

 
You can report hate crime 24 hours a day on 999 (in an emergency) or on 0300 123 1212, or at a police station. 
In addition Wandsworth Borough Police and Wandsworth Local Authority have also jointly secured the services of Stop Hate UK Helpline. This is an independent charity which provides emotional and practical support for anyone who has experienced hate crime. You can report hate crime to Stop Hate UK 24 hours a day. Everything you tell them is kept confidential and you have the option to remain anonymous. Stop Hate UK can also speak to victims in their preferred language if required.
