new access point used in recent burglary
An unusual access point was used this week - the burglar entered through a manhole cover into the cellar. Many older properties were built with these in the front of the house, to allow coal to be delivered.
The Met warn that they do look small, but are big enough for a small burglar to get through. Their advice to prevent burglaries by this means, you could either get the cover welded shut, or have an internal bar fitted into the brickwork below the cover
