to identify drowned lady
Richmond Police are appealing for information that may assist in identifying
a woman whom is believed to have drowned in the Thames near Richmond lock
at approximately 13.30 on Monday 16th May 2005.
She is described as a white, aged approx 50 - 60yrs, stocky build, approx
5ft tall with shoulder length light brown/ginger hair and hazel coloured
eyes. She was wearing a black polo neck t-shirt, blue jeans and blue and
silver High Tec trainers. She had three rings on her right hand. All are
white metal - two with stones and one with a celtic type band.
She was carrying a house key with a "Gran Turismo 4" fob on
it.
Two witnesses saw her in the water and alerted the nearby lock keeper
who called the emergency services. She was pulled from the water by the
local lifeboat. Despite efforts to resuscitate her she was pronounced
dead at the scene by the Air ambulance doctor and taken to West Middlesex
hospital.
A post mortem is yet to be arranged.
It is believed she would have entered the water near this location as
the river was at its low tide point.
