Appeal After Failed Bank Robbery in Southfields

Detectives from the Met's Flying Squad are appealing for help from the public to identify a man they would like to speak to in connection with an attempted bank robbery in Southfields.

The attempted robbery took place on 15 December 2016 shortly after 3pm at the Natwest in Wimbledon Park Road.

A man put a bag on the counter and told a cashier to fill it with money. The cashier pressed the panic alarm and he then walked out of the bank.

He is described as a white man, medium or stocky build, 6ft tall, with a full beard and moustache. He was wearing a black cap with a white motif on the front, a black jacket with hood, blue jeans and black shoes.

Detective Constable Mike Bunn, of the Met’s Flying Squad, said, “We have made extenstive enquiries and we are now issuing an image of this man in the hope that someone who knows him will come forward an assist us with our investigation. I am keen to hear from anyone who can help identify the man pictured or has information that can help assist my investigation.”
