They have special tickets to see the Jubilee Pageant
Almost 200 schoolchildren from across Hounslow will have the best views possible at one of the largest spectacles of the Jubilee weekend.
The schoolchildren have been given tickets to the special spectator area on Battersea Bridge to watch the Jubilee Pageant as it travels along the Thames.
The seven mile long flotilla will be made up of hundreds of boats, and thousands of people, passing along the river from above Battersea to Tower Bridge, and will take at least 75 minutes to pass and given point.
Cllr Ruth Cadbury, Hounslow’s lead member for the Olympics, said:
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness first hand a truly spectacular event.
“There is so much going on for the Jubilee, but the pageant will be a real focal point, and millions of people across the world will be watching.
“It’s great these young people will have one of the best views possible, and it will be something they can tell their grandchildren about in years to come.”
Closer to home, there’s lots going on across the borough to provide an opportunity for Hounslow residents to celebrate 60 years of the Queen’s reign.
A beacon will be lit in Lampton Park as part of the national Jubilee Beacons project, and a large-scale Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and screening of Alice in Wonderland will take place at BostonManor House.
The Royal British Legion are holding a Party on the Green in Isleworth, and residents of the Brabazon Estate are organising a Jubilee Picnic for everyone on the Brabazon, Scotts Gardens, Harlech Gardens and Redwood Estates in Heston. There will also be 39 street parties taking place across the borough over the long weekend.
