The company has previously performed atmospheric productions of Frankenstein and Dracula
October 2, 2026
Boston Manor House will become the setting for a chilling Victorian thriller this October as The Arts Centre Hounslow returns with a new adaptation of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. Running from 14 October to 1 November, the production transforms the historic house into an intimate stage for Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic tale of dual identity and moral unravelling.
Following the company’s atmospheric stagings of Frankenstein and Dracula, this latest production is adapted by Jack Fairey and directed by Laura Hannawin, with a cast of three bringing the story’s psychological tension into sharp focus. Set in London in 1886, the play begins with a dinner invitation from the respectable Dr Henry Jekyll. But as news spreads of a murdered MP and a violent attack elsewhere in the city, suspicion begins to creep closer to Jekyll’s own home — and to the mysterious figure known as Edward Hyde.
Performed within the period rooms of Boston Manor House, the production uses the building’s architecture and atmosphere to heighten the sense of unease. What starts as a polite social evening becomes a confrontation with secrets Jekyll can no longer contain, echoing Stevenson’s themes of respectability, repression and the darker impulses that lurk beneath the surface.
Mountview-trained actor Liam Smith leads the cast as Jekyll/Hyde. His credits include The Mirror & The Light for the RSC, Sucker Punch on tour, and roles in Grace, Magpie Murders, Great Expectations, Blitz and One Life. Nick Barraclough plays Utterson, bringing experience from productions in London and New Zealand, including Things I Know to Be True and the TV drama North Shore. Phoebe Taylor-Jones, a familiar face at The Arts Centre Hounslow, returns as Rowena Enfield after previous roles in Dracula, Frankenstein, The Importance of Being Earnest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The production team includes writer and assistant director Jack Fairey, producers Jonathan Ashby and Monica Yunda Arevalo, and stage manager Billie Antimony.
The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde runs at Boston Manor House, Boston Manor Road, TW8 9JX, from 14 October to 1 November, with evening and matinee performances across the run.
Tickets and the full schedule are available via The Arts Centre Hounslow website, with school booking enquiries welcomed through the production page.
