Brentford failed to impress at Griffin Park in a 0-0 draw with Walsall on Saturday.

The Bees' best chance fell to Clayton Donaldson in the second half but the striker - who looks haplessly low on confidence - made a pig's ear of his onely opportunity. With a loanee striker rumoured to be joining this week it might well be that Clayton is dropped to the bench in the near future.

Donaldson did also have a cross / shot cleared off the line in the first half with the keeper beaten as well as a penalty appeal turned down by the dreadful referee.

The Bees at least looked fairly solid in defence although young keeper Simon Moore, in for the injured Richard Lee, made one fantastic save in the first half.

Walsall had other chances too as the Bees defence were caught hopelessly square towards the end of the game. Fortunately their efforts on goal were pretty woeful.

In midfield Harry Forrester showed the odd glimpse of ability on the ball but didn't really impact on the game overall. He wasnt the only one though. It's a mystery to me how Saunders and Douglas lasted the 90 minutes without being replaced.

I heard at least three people say something along the lines of 'that's twenty quid wasted' as they left the ground today - the crowd again shortchanged by a team lacking heart and flair.

Bees - Moore, Bennett, Legge, Eger, Bidwell, Saunders, Bean (Dave), Douglas, Forrester (McGinn), Donaldson (Weston), Alexander

      Unused Bees - Dean, Logan
