Uwe Rosler's side appear to have a worrying trait of giving up the ghost against the top teams in the division - and that was certainly the case as several senior players went into hiding.

Brentford had a reasonable first 25 minutes with Bean, Kev and Douglas forming a fairly rugged if uninventive midfield. However a couple of near misses for Town from set pieces saw Brentford's composure unravel and it was little surprise when Jordan Rhodes opened the scoring.

Rhodes also scored the Terriers third with second half goals either side from Novak and Roberts. To be fair to Richard Lee he could do little to stop any of the goals and made a very smart save shortly before half-time to keep Brentford in the game at the interval.

Brentford's failings were all over the pitch - Osborne had an error filled off day whilst Eger failed to dominate his man at any point. The inexperience of Adams and Thompson was very apparent today whilst David Clarkson worked hard but did little to suggest he will add cutting edge up front. Jonathan Douglas - a dominating figure last weekend - was more or less a spectator after half time as the game passed him by.

Uwe also has a dilemna over formation. The 4-3-3 suits Niall McGinn but not Clayton Donaldson (when forced wide) and many home supporters see it as a negative approach. However we were battered today when we switched to 4-4-2 which isnt a great outcome either.

Some mild positives from today come through a reasonable second half performance from sub Diagouraga and a good run and rasping shot from McGinn in the first half. That's about it though (and McGinn missed a really good chance at 2-0 following a driving run and shot from Dave).

Lots of food for thought - the last time I can remember us playing with a complete absence of battling spirit like today was under a certain Leroy Rosenior. Let's hope Uwe's team rally and improve. And grow some balls.

Bees - Lee, Thompson, Eger, KO, Adams, McGinn, Kev (Dave), Bean (Weston), Douglas, Clarkson (Grella), Donaldson
