A Brentford team featuring several fringe players impressed in a fantastic 3-1 win at Hillsborough on Tuesday night. Trevor Carson made his Bees debut in goal whilst Sam Wood, Michael Spillane and Lewis Grabban were recalled. Adam Reed (blisters) and Gary Alexander (slight knock) were rested from the squad.

Nicky Forster's side opened the scoring in the first three minutes through a well taken Michael Spillane header.

The home side equalised ten minutes later when Rob Jones headed home from a Teale corner but it wasn't long before the Bees were ahead again through the in form Schlupp

Jeffrey was replaced at half time by Nicholas Bignall - hopefully the young German striker's injury will not keep him out of Sunday's JPT final.

Brentford sealed the win late on when the returning Sam Saunders converted a free kick to send the Wednesday fans home in their droves - the Hillsborough PA playing "What's going on?" by 4 Non Blondes at the final whistle.

Forster now has a difficult choice to make in whittling his troops down to a 16 man squad for Wembley with the likes of Grabban and Spillane impressing tonight. Fossy also has to decide between Simon Moore and Carson in goal but told tonight's press conference that he is under no pressure from Sunderland to pick the latter.

Bees - Carson, Spillane, Pim, KO, Woodman, Byrne, Bean, Kev (OTJ), Wood (Saunders), Schlupp (Bignall), Grabban

Unused Bees - Moore, Legge, Wright, Weston
